Restorative circles is a process of conflict transformation developed by Dominic Barter and his colleagues while working in the favelas(Shanty Towns) of Rio de Janerio in Brazil. It’s a systemic approach to dealing with conflicts, where the community comes together to understand and work on the conflict by creating a space for listening deeply what happened and how it impacted all the people there and why each one chose to act in the way they did. The process takes us away from retribution to restoration through a process created and agreed upon by the community.
At Ahimsagram all team members also have access to the Restorative Circle process where all team members can call a circle when they find themselves in conflict which they need support from the community to work on. To know more about the process see www.restorativecircles.org.
